ICE Arrests 400 Criminal Illegals in Minnesota Sanctuary State
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested more than 400 illegal immigrants in Minnesota as part of Operation Metro Surge, targeting the worst criminal aliens who thought sanctuary state politicians would shield them from justice.
The Department of Homeland Security announced the operation on December 12, emphasizing that these arrests focused on the "worst of the worst" criminals who had flocked to Minnesota, banking on the state's sanctuary policies for protection.
Among those arrested were dangerous predators including a Burmese national convicted of criminal sexual conduct using force, a Somali convicted of robbery, a Laotian convicted of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child under 13, and an Ecuadorian who previously assaulted a police officer.
Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Fail Americans
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin directly called out Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey for failing to protect Minnesota citizens.
"They let these monsters and child predators roam free," McLaughlin declared. "Thanks to our brave law enforcement, Minnesota is safer with these thugs off their streets."
This represents exactly what happens when liberal politicians prioritize illegal aliens over American safety. Sanctuary policies create safe havens for criminals while putting law-abiding citizens at risk.
ICE Officers Under Attack
The enforcement operation comes amid a shocking surge in attacks against immigration officers nationwide. DHS reports a 1,150 percent increase in assaults and an 8,000 percent increase in death threats against ICE personnel.
On December 12, an ICE officer was brutally attacked in Louisiana when a criminal illegal immigrant savagely bit the officer's hand, breaking skin and drawing blood during arrest resistance.
"Many of these assaults, including biting and vehicle rammings, are happening as a direct result of sanctuary politicians encouraging illegal aliens to evade arrest," McLaughlin stated.
Minneapolis Doubles Down on Sanctuary Madness
Instead of supporting law enforcement, Minneapolis City Council unanimously approved an even stronger sanctuary ordinance on December 11. The 13-0 vote included zero Republicans, as none serve on the council.
Councilmember Jason Chavez vowed to "continue to resist this Trump administration," putting politics over public safety.
Governor Walz sent a letter to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem complaining about ICE operations, claiming concern about arrests of U.S. citizens without providing evidence.
DHS Fires Back at Walz
The Department of Homeland Security slammed Walz's letter, highlighting the "growing and disturbing trend" of agitators obstructing law enforcement during criminal arrests.
"Secretary Noem has been clear: if you lay a hand on a law enforcement officer, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," DHS responded.
The department told Walz to stop spreading misinformation and instead focus on "protecting American lives and thanking the brave men and women of DHS law enforcement who are risking their lives to make communities in his state safer."
This operation proves that when federal authorities enforce immigration law properly, communities become safer. Sanctuary policies protect criminals, not citizens. It's time for Minnesota politicians to choose: American safety or illegal alien protection.
