New Caribbean Flight Routes Give Americans Freedom to Escape Winter

This winter brings a wave of new flight routes to Caribbean paradise destinations, making it easier than ever for Americans to enjoy the fruits of their labor.
Spirit Airlines launched nonstop flights from Fort Lauderdale to Grand Cayman on December 4, operating three times weekly. This route gives Americans direct access to one of the Caribbean's premier destinations without the hassle of connecting flights.
JetBlue Expands American Access to Puerto Rico
Starting March 2026, JetBlue will connect five American cities directly to San Juan, Puerto Rico: Philadelphia, Jacksonville, Norfolk, Richmond, and Buffalo. The Jacksonville route launches March 13, with others following by March 27. Since Puerto Rico is American territory, citizens don't need passports, making this the ultimate hassle-free getaway.
JetBlue also launched Fort Lauderdale to Santiago, Dominican Republic service on December 13, plus daily Tampa to Punta Cana flights starting December 18.
Delta Opens New Caribbean Frontiers
Delta Air Lines kicks off seasonal service from Atlanta to both Grenada and St. Vincent and the Grenadines on December 20. These traditionally hard-to-reach islands are now within easy reach for American travelers through April 2026.
United, American, and Southwest Join the Action
United Airlines now operates twice-weekly flights from Newark to Dominica, after launching the route in February and adding a second weekly flight in October.

Southwest Airlines enters the Caribbean market with St. Thomas service from Orlando (February 5, 2026) and Baltimore (February 7, 2026).
