27,000 New Yorkers Left in the Dark: Central Hudson’s Power Grid Fails Again
More than 27,000 hardworking New Yorkers in the Mid-Hudson region woke up Monday to no power after overnight thunderstorms ripped through the area. This is not just an inconvenience. It is a gut punch to families, small businesses, and the American way of life.
By 9:22 a.m., Central Hudson’s outage map showed 20,198 customers in Dutchess County and 5,937 in Ulster County still in the dark. At the storm’s peak Sunday, about 37,000 customers lost power. The utility claims it restored service to roughly 17,000 by Sunday night, but that still leaves tens of thousands without electricity until at least Tuesday night.
