Bass Pro CEO Delivers Scorching Rebuke to NASCAR Leadership Over Childress Attack
Johnny Morris, the patriotic founder and CEO of Bass Pro Shops, has fired back at NASCAR's woke leadership with a blistering letter defending racing legend Richard Childress from vicious personal attacks by Commissioner Steve Phelps.
The explosive text messages, revealed through the ongoing antitrust lawsuit, show NASCAR's top brass calling the six-time Cup Series champion an "idiot," "redneck," and "ass-clown" who should be "taken out back and flogged."
American Patriot Under Attack
Morris pulled no punches in his defense of Childress, calling him a "true American patriot" and conservation leader who has done more to build NASCAR than almost anyone in the sport's history. The Bass Pro CEO made it crystal clear that attacking Childress means attacking the very foundation of American racing.
"The commissioner has repeatedly labeled Richard as 'an idiot,' a 'dinosaur,' 'a stupid redneck' and a 'clown,'" Morris wrote. "The fact is Richard Childress has done as much to build and promote NASCAR as anyone in the history of the sport!"
Integrity Under Fire
Morris didn't stop there. He questioned whether Phelps can fairly enforce NASCAR's rules given his obvious contempt for one of the sport's pillars. "This is a threat to the very integrity of the sport," he declared.
The Bass Pro CEO drew a powerful comparison, asking what would happen if Major League Baseball's commissioner trash-talked legends like Babe Ruth or Willie Mays. "Such a commissioner most likely wouldn't, or shouldn't, keep his or her job for very long!"
Standing with Real Americans
Morris emphasized that Bass Pro Shops serves America's 180 million outdoor enthusiasts and 60 million hunters and anglers, the backbone of NASCAR's fan base. These hardworking Americans are outraged by the disrespectful treatment of Childress and his family.
While praising the France family for their commitment to faith, patriotism, and honoring our military, Morris called for leadership that respects the pioneers who built this great American sport.
"They must never turn their back on, or abandon, the true pioneers and especially fans who form the foundation of the sport we love," Morris concluded.
This corporate rebellion against NASCAR's establishment shows that real Americans won't stand for attacks on their heroes and values.
