War Dept: Foreign Foes Running 'Psyop' to Kill American AI
A top Pentagon official is blowing the whistle on a coordinated foreign influence campaign designed to slow America's dominance in artificial intelligence. Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering Emil Michael told Fox News Digital that adversaries are running psychological operations to fuel the anti-data center movement sweeping the nation.
This is a direct attack on American innovation and our national security. The left-wing activists screaming to shut down data centers are doing the bidding of our enemies, whether they know it or not.
Why are foreign adversaries targeting American data centers?
Michael put it bluntly: if America doesn't build superintelligence first, our enemies will. And they will do whatever it takes to make sure we don't.
“It is natural from a propaganda standpoint that your adversary, who doesn't want you to be developing super intelligence ahead of them, is going to try to psyop your population into believing that. And to some degree, it's worked,” Michael said.
Data centers are the backbone of the AI revolution. Michael called them the “electricity that fuels the superintelligence revolution.” Without them, America loses the race. It's that simple.
Sen. Ted Cruz: Same playbook as the anti-fracking scam
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, sees the pattern clearly. Foreign money tried to kill American energy independence with the anti-fracking movement. Now they are using the same playbook on AI.
“It's the same reason we saw Middle Eastern countries paying for anti-fracking movements. Because if they can convince America, 'Don't develop your oil and gas, just buy it from us,' well, that's great for them and terrible for us,” Cruz told Fox News Digital.
The senator added: “If they can convince Americans, 'You don't want data centers here, you want to just rely on the Chinese for AI,' that's great for China, and it's terrible for America.”
Who is funding the anti-AI protests?
Follow the money. American-born tech tycoon Singham, now living in Shanghai, has pumped $278 million into left-wing nonprofits since 2017. His cash flows to groups like the Party for Socialism and Liberation, a self-described pro-China communist organization.
Last month, activists from these groups marched in Chapel Hill, N.C., carrying signs supporting communist Cuba and demanding data centers be “SHUT IT DOWN!” These are the same radicals who hate America and everything she stands for.
Singham sold his tech company for $785 million and now funds pro-Chinese Communist Party operations on American soil. This is foreign interference, plain and simple.
How the Department of War is using AI to protect America
While the left protests progress, the Department of War is embracing it. Since Secretary Pete Hegseth took charge, AI usage has exploded from 70,000 users to 1.7 million across a 3.5 million-person workforce.
The military deploys AI in three critical areas: enterprise operations, warfighting, and intelligence. The results are staggering.
“We have incredible vignettes and stories about how people took 200 hours of work and combined it down to two hours,” Michael said. “They can see what we have as assets. They can see what the adversary has as assets - they can time things better, they write quicker, they can consolidate orders quicker.”
What does this mean for the midterms?
This is a battle for America's future. The anti-AI movement is not organic. It is manufactured by foreign adversaries who want to see the United States fall behind. Every American who values freedom, innovation, and national security should see these protests for what they are: a psyop designed to weaken us.
The Constitution protects our right to build, innovate, and compete. Let's not let communist sympathizers and foreign money take that away.
