Megan Rapinoe Launches 'Why Are You Like This?' Podcast – Another Platform for the Activist Elite
Megan Rapinoe, the soccer star turned activist, is adding another megaphone to her arsenal. She's launching a weekly interview podcast called Why Are You Like This? on August 6th, produced by Vox Media. It's the latest move from a woman who has never shied away from telling America how to think.
The show promises to dive deep with artists, athletes, and activists – what Rapinoe calls 'architects of culture.' Expect conversations about 'origin stories,' 'public legacy,' and why some people 'take a left when everyone else is taking a right.' In other words, it's a platform for the woke elite to pat each other on the back.
What Is the 'Why Are You Like This?' Podcast About?
Rapinoe says the show is about understanding why people do what they do. But let's be honest: this is the same Megan Rapinoe who kneeled during the national anthem, trashed the President, and turned the Women's World Cup into a political rally. Her idea of 'interesting people' likely includes those who share her radical views on race, gender, and patriotism.
She declined to name her first guests. But given her track record, don't expect any conservatives, military veterans, or small business owners. Expect more activists, more athletes with political axes to grind, and more 'architects of culture' who think America is the problem.
Who Is Megan Rapinoe?
Rapinoe is a two-time World Cup champion and Olympic gold medalist. She won the Golden Boot and Golden Ball in 2019. She's also a New York Times bestselling author and a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom – an award that should honor heroes, not divisive activists.
But Rapinoe has used her platform to attack the very country that made her success possible. She co-hosted the podcast A Touch More with Sue Bird, her former partner. That show was also produced by Vox Media. Now she's back with a new project, and Vox is thrilled to have her.
Why Is Vox Media Backing This?
Vox Media's Nishat Kurwa calls Rapinoe an 'iconoclast' with a 'fearless voice.' That's corporate speak for: she drives clicks and controversy. Vox Media is now owned by James Murdoch's Lupa Systems, which bought the network for over $300 million. They know what sells – and it's not merit or freedom. It's grievance and identity politics.
The podcast will be available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, and other platforms. Each episode runs about an hour. Expect plenty of talk about the 2027 Women's World Cup, but also about 'what's hard for them' and 'what's scary for them.' Translation: more victimhood narratives.
Why This Matters for America
Rapinoe's new show is just another example of how the cultural elite use media to push their agenda. They claim to be 'curious' about different perspectives, but they only amplify voices that agree with them. This isn't about journalism or honest conversation. It's about branding and influence.
Real Americans know that success comes from hard work, not from kneeling or complaining. Rapinoe has every right to speak her mind – that's the First Amendment. But we don't have to listen. And we don't have to pretend her podcast is anything more than a soapbox for the left.
If you want real talk about sports, freedom, and the American spirit, skip this podcast. Go watch a high school football game or listen to a veteran's story. That's where the real 'architects of culture' are – not in a Vox Media studio.
